It's officially been 2 weeks here on Mackinac Island. At first I was skeptical on this new adventure, but now I can honestly say, "How am I going to leave when this is over?" The people have been so kind and my mentor is nothing but helpful when it comes to criticism. It's officially been 2 weeks and I feel like there is so much to learn in so little time!
Naturally, working with historic parks, I have been trying to soak in as much knowledge about Mackinac as possible. I can truly testify that one visit to the MSHP sites is not enough. There is something new to learn each time I enter one of the sites and there is something new added every year. It's so interesting to see, from museum perspective, how you can still build and grow these sites throughout time. There are countless stories to tell from different viewpoints at each site which gives a world of opportunity for MSHP to expand.
Being around co-workers who truly have a passion for Mackinac's history encourages myself to learn and retain as much as possible when it comes to Mackinac and to join their efforts in protecting and preserving Mackinac's treasures.
